Lent begins Ash Wednesday, March 6th. Come to the Lenten Faire in Mullen Commons Vista to help prepare for this time of introspection and prayer. We will have Lenten materials available after all the Masses for the weekend of February 23rd-24th. Pick up your reading materials as well as your Rice Bowl, that benefits Catholic Relief.
We will also have pretzel making after the 9AM and 11AM Masses for the children. Come learn about the special symbol of the pretzel during Lent.
There will also be Hospitality, so bring your favorite finger food to share with your fellow parishioners!
Sparks to Ashes Retreat for Liturgical Ministers March 2nd
All Liturgical Ministers are invited to our Sparks from Ashes Retreat in Mullen Commons Vista on Saturday, March 2nd after the 8:30 Mass.
Come join us for a continental breakfast at 9am, followed by a short retreat that will prepare us for the Lenten Season.The theme of the retreat is We are Called and Gifted.
Before we leave, we will also review the changes that come up in the Liturgy at the beginning of Lent.
Ash Wednesday is a day when many people come to Mass who don’t regularly attend, and many of them are young adults.Let’s all welcome them, share our seats and our smiles and hospitality with them!Let’s create a Spark of Call for them as they come for their Ashes on Ash Wednesday, March 6th.
If anyone wants to join us in retreat who is not a Liturgical Minister, you are most welcome.We would love you to consider becoming a Liturgical Minister too!
Date Night for Couples, Friday March 1st
Valentine’s Day is around the corner. Give yourselves the gift of a romantic and fun evening for SJV Couples to be celebrated Friday, March 1st, 6:00 – 8:45 pm, in Mullen Commons. This is a great opportunity to set aside some special time for each other in a lovely setting.
Babysitting is available in Faith Formation through our Youth Group’s Parent Night Out program (kids must be out of diapers). There is no cost for the Couple’s Evening. Heavy appetizers will be served beginning at 6:00 pm and the program will start at 6:45 pm. Each couple will be blessed by Fr. William as part of the program.
Eucharistic Ministry at John Muir Medical Center
Pastoral Care of the Sick Ministry Catholic Team is seeking people of spirit, soul and heart to join our vibrant ministry work at John Muir Medical Center, Walnut Creek . Eucharistic Ministers make daily visits to approximately 60-80 Catholic patients 7 days a week, 365 days in the mornings or some afternoons. Commitment time is about 2-3hrs a week and training is provided.
