This is a special Sunday morning opportunity for children to celebrate the Liturgy of the Word during the 9:00am and 11:00am Masses.
The children are invited to gather in the church with a catechist prior to the first reading. They are sent forth by the community with blessing and song to listen and reflect on the Sunday Children's Sunday readings. They return to the assembly before the presentation of the gifts. The Gospel message is shared with the children through ritual, Scripture and interactive reflection.

Teen Service Opportunities
There are many opportunities for the teens of St. John Vianney to get involved with the community.
Eucharistic Ministers (EMEs): Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist, are invited to assist our faith community in celebrating the Mass which is the “source and summit” of our lives as Roman Catholic Christians. They come forward after the sign of peace and then after the consecration, distribute the Eucharist to our faith community.
Lectors: Lectors assist our faith community by proclaiming the 1st, 2nd Readings as well as the Prayers of the Faithful (Petitions).A workbook will be given to each Lector with the readings for the season so that they can practice the readings prior to their assigned mass.
Preschool Teacher’s Aide: During the 9 am mass we have provided pre-school classes for children ages 3, 4, and 5 that helps them to learn more about our faith in a fun age appropriate learning environment. Classes take place in the lower level of Mullen Commons.
Children’s Liturgy of the Word Assistant: During the 9 and 11 am Masses, children are called forth to go to the Mullen Commons to hear the weekly readings and discuss their meaning at an age appropriate level.
